Considerations on the new WIPO Treaty on Genetic Resources (Roberto Carapeto)
WIPO Member States held final negotiations on a New Treaty on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge at WIPO Headquarters in Geneva from May 13-24, 2024, with Ambassador Guillerme de Aguiar Patriotta, Brazil's Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization (WTO), chairing the diplomatic meeting which culminated in consensus approval of the new WIPO Treaty. I take this opportunity to share some considerations on the new WIPO Treaty, since Brazil was the leader of the final discussions and the subject is of great interest to Brazil.
